Product(s): Promis.e, Bentley Substation Version(s): through 08.11.13.140 Environment: N/A Area: Component Features Subarea: Insert Symbol By Name Problem Description Why are symbols or macros rotated, mirrored, or scaled when I insert them onto any page in any project? Reason The most common cause for this is that the Rotate Angle setting was changed to a value other than 0 at one time, and the software retains that setting until it is changed again, regardless of the project in which the setting was changed. Similarly, the Mirror or Scale setting could be enabled. Steps to Resolve When symbol insertion is affected Select [[Insert Symbol By Name]] . Click the Symbol Settings link or button. On the resulting Symbol Settings dialog, change the value of Rotate Angle to "0", change Mirror to "No Mirror", and set the Scale value to "1". Subsequently inserted symbols will then appear as created. To "fix" symbols already inserted, right-click the symbol graphics and select Symbol Settings , then perform step 3 of the above procedure. Or delete and re-insert them after performing the above procedure. Another cause could be that the symbols are auto-rotating based on the orientation of the wire on which they are being placed. To disable this behavior, clear the Auto Rotate check box on the aforementioned Symbol Settings dialog. Yet another cause could be that the symbols are being inserted from an inappropriate catalog, often JIC-3/ANSI-IEEE vs. IEC. Remove inappropriate catalogs from the [[Setup]] > Catalog Paths , or reorder the paths. Symbols are inserted from the topmost catalog that contains the symbol. When macro insertion is affected Select Insert Macro . Click the Macro Settings link or button. On the resulting Macro Settings dialog, change the value of Rotate Angle to "0", and set the Horizontal Scale value to "1". Subsequently inserted macros will then appear as created. To "fix" a macro already inserted, it might be easiest to delete and re-insert the macro.
