With the possible exception of when the catalog is on the network, in which case Rebuild may have been acting as a trigger to update the catalog cache on the workstation. Or perhaps the need to Rebuild was indicative of some problem with the catalog that has now worsened. Since the categories I described above exist only in the catalog.mdb file, I would like to avoid scrapping that file so a new one is created. But I suspect that is where the problem is since it does not seem to be in Device.mdb. If you .zip up or export your problem catalog in its entirety and upload it using the secure upload procedure , I will see if I can resolve the problem and preserve your categories.
