Product(s): Promis.e Version(s): 08.11.13.57 - 08.11.13.96 Environment: N\A Area: Licensing Subarea: N\A After upgrading to Promis.e V8i SELECT series 8, what features am I able to use that I was not able to use before? Background The feature sets of the Standard, Professional, and Enterprise editions of Promis.e were consolidated into a single license level for Promis.e V8i SELECTseries 8. Enterprise edition users had access to all the features of the software already, so there is no change to what tools are available to these users in Promis.e V8i SELECTseries 8. Features now available to former Professional edition users [[Run Shortest Distance]] The Shortest Distance Routing Module creates a connection list that takes into account the physical location of components used on a layout page in order to minimize wire length. This shortest distance connection list is useful to those who do the actual wiring and troubleshooting of the components. [[Run Shortest Distance]] wiring rules version uses an XML file that contains rules for how wires are to be routed between panels. The wiring rules version also permits the user to define cases where additional terminals or plugs should be added to the connection group even though they are not shown in the schematics. Wire length calculation and reporting Wire lengths calculated by the Shortest Distance tool can be reported on wire list reports. Forced wire routing (part of [[Wiring Manager]] ) The [[Wiring Manager]] allows you to change the daisy chain order of devices on any wire potential to meet your design requirements. Wiring reports and wiring diagrams will display the connections according to how you arranged them. Output to wire cutting machines You can format the output of Shortest distance to match the format required by your Komax wire cutting machine and feed the data to it to automatically cut and label your wires. [[Project API Builder]] Project API (Application Programming Interface) Builder can be used to automate the building of new projects or for changing existing ones by executing instructions on an Excel spreadsheet (.xls). Project Builder Project Builder enables you to create complete or partial projects automatically by selecting options that are defined and stored in a template project. The feature consists of two separate tools - the Template Manager and the Project Builder. Dynamic Wiring Diagrams You can enable a setting within the software to automatically update wire diagrams when connections are changed in the schematic at the time when you reopen the wiring diagram drawing. You no longer need to manually run the [[Update Wiring Diagram]] tool. [[Terminal/Pin-Plug Manager]] The Terminal/Pin-Plug Manager enables you to compile a list of terminals in the current project and allows you to select and edit the terminal information. This tool makes it fast and easy to rename terminal strips and rearrange terminals within the strip, etc. [[Data Manager]] The Data Manager is a feature that allows you to access data from the project in one window with tabs for different categories of data such as device IDs, symbol text and more. The Data Manager is a convenient way to globally search, sort and edit project data without opening project drawings. [[Cable Manager]] The Cable Manager allows you to edit cable text, rearrange conductors, and swap from/to targets. All the cables in a project are accessible in a single dialog. You can make large-scale changes to the cable texts in a project without searching for and editing individual cables. This saves time and lessens errors of omission or inconsistency of edits. Spare Parts functionality Allows you to define spare parts for any part numbers that are included in the project. The parts database contains a Percent_Spare field that allows you to automatically add a percentage of spares to the parts that are actually used. This percentage is shown in the [[Project Manager]] > Spare Parts tab in the Percent Spare column. You can also assign additional spares by making an entry in the Added Spares column. [[Graphical Plan Template Designer]] Allows you to customize graphical plan templates or create your own. A graphical terminal plan is composed of a group of wiring diagram symbols, one symbol for each terminal block. Graphical terminal plans display the connection information for the terminals on the plan. [[Mode Manager]] The Mode Manager enables you to define custom drawing modes and insert symbols in this mode which can be related to devices in other drawing modes. The Mode Manager also allows you to edit the text that appears in menus and dialogs for any given drawing mode. This includes menu selections and the labels for buttons and fields in the dialogs. Wire Sizing and Sustainability tool allows you to select a device and choose the appropriate size wires according to: Electrical code standards (ex: National Electrical Code NEC 2008 and NEC 2011). De-rating factors such as fill, ambient temperature, wire type, voltage drop. Sustainability (ex: power loss cost versus oversized wire cost; option for multiple smaller conductors per phase).
