Product(s): Bentley Substation CONNECT Version(s): 10.04.XX.XX Environment: N/A Area: Component Features Subarea: Insert Field Background: The Insert Field tool is used to draw a field around symbols on a schematic page. Installation and Location values assigned to the field can be propagated to the devices that have symbols within the field by setting the Rename Inst./Loc. Of Device ID's to match field check box on the dialog. The Field Parameters dialog appears after drawing the field and selecting the data point (clicking) for the text position. The Field can be inserted by two methods as below. 1. By Block : By using this method, the Field can be inserted using a Rectangle (Block) whose extent can be selected by giving two data points and the symbol that are included in the block will be assigned the Installation and Location of the Field. 2. By Shape : By using this Method, the Field can be inserted by drawing a closed Shape by giving multiple data points to specifically include the desired symbols. Steps to Accomplish: 1. Steps to Insert Field by Block method. A. In Promis.e go to Electrical >> 2D Design >> Insert Field under Components. B. Next in the Place Field dialog select By Block C. Next place two data points to include the Symbols that need to be the part of the Field. Then provide one more data point to validate the inserted field. D. Next in Field Parameter specify the Installation, Location for the field being inserted and select OK to insert the field. 2. Steps to Insert Field by Shape method. A. In Promis.e go to Electrical >> 2D Design >> Insert Field under Components. B. Next in Place Field dialog select By Shape. C. Next place multiple data points to create a closed Shape which will include all the Symbols that need to be part of the Field. D.
