Hello Doug, the reason for family option grayed out, it might be you are trying to place Equipment symbol for which family concept does not work. symbols like transformers, motors .etc it will work only for the switches, fuses, contactors which have additional inbuilt secondary components. please let us know the symbol name for which you are getting family option grayed out.
