Did you use the Solids Modeling > Cylinder Solid tool to create the cylinder shape in the cable symbol? Using Feature Modeling > Cylinder Feature and possibly other tools to create the cylinder is known to result in only the center line appearing. The Cylinder Solid tool is the recommended tool to use. Are you inserting the cable far from the (0,0,0) origin of the drawing? Try inserting the cable very closed to 0,0,0 and see if the cable appears correctly.
