Product(s): Bentley Raceway and Cable Management CONNECT Edition Version(s): 10 Environment: N/A Area: Installation_Configuration Subarea: N/A Overview In the CONNECT Edition, the software utilizes the native Power Platform configuration system to locate the dataset, connect to the project database, and specify various default settings. Note: Power Platform is the MicroStation core application that underlies the CONNECT Edition product. New configuration variables have been introduced that can be set in any configuration file to configure the software. The purpose of this article is to provide a comprehensive list of the application specific variables that are used to configure the software and explain their purpose. BRCM Configuration Variables Application variables are prefixed with “BRCM_” to set them apart from the standard Power Platform variables. The following table provides a complete list of the application specific variables and explains their purpose: Name Operator Value Type Value (typical) Description BRCM_APPLICATION = String BRCM Short name of the application BRCM_DB_CONNECTSTRING = String DSN=BRCMUSER;UID=BRCMUser;PWD=BRCM Connection String for SQL Server Database. Forum Post: RE: Cannot Restore project
Hi Zakaria, Can you confirm if you are trying to restore projects from older version of Promise (AUTOCAD based Promise) to latest version of Promis.e??. Do you face similar issue when you try to restore OOTB projects that are supplied along with Promis.e Regards, Satish Saptasagar Get Outlook for Android

Forum Post: RE: SQL Database Upgrade
Hi Aaron, Promise SS6 is not compatible to SQL server 2012 and we didn't recommend you to change your server into SQL server2016. If possible please upgrade your software from Promise v8i SS6 to Promise ( standalone version ) So you don't need to worry about the upgrading your server. Please Compatibility chart of Promise Connect :-

Forum Post: RE: SQL Database Upgrade
Hi Aaron, Along with above points mentioned by Avanti I would like to mention that Promis.e SS6 is very old version of Promis.e and its no longer supported. The latest version of Promis.e is Promis.e CONNECT Edition Update 3 which is compatible with SQL Server 2016. And we would like to mention that apart from Promis.e V8i SS8 no other V8i versions support SQL Server 2016. And according to the Bentley Support policy all versions of Promis.e apart from CONNECT Edition versions will Support Discontinued after 1st January 2020. Hence you will have to update your Promis.e to Latest version for continued support. For more details you can refer the below Link regarding "Bentley Support Policy". Hello Iron, I can open this file in Microstation and it is editable so you can reference this file. We don't know about ASID and MSLINK is readable or not. EED is very old software and we can log enhancement for this, but need to discuss with Product Management team. Regards, Avanti Khandalkar

Forum Post: RE: Auto generation of cable numbers
Hi Avanti, We were hoping to auto generate cable numbers for the secondary side of Bentley Substation. i.e. If we assign cable 100 we would like the next cable marker we place to automatically be 101 (regardless of its cable family) Is this possible?

Hi Jessica, Currently we don't have this feature in Bentley Substation. We create Service Request for this and log enhancement for your requirement.

Wiki Page: How to Import Cable List into BRCM CONNECT
Product(s): Bentley Raceway and cable Management Version(s): 10.03.00.25 Environment: N/A Area: Cable List Import Subarea: N/A Overview Cable List import is not necessarily a required step, as cable connections can be defined manually using Cable Manager, but Cable Manager will not allow you to create cables in bulk, only one cable at a time. Therefore, Cable List import method is preferred when the user needs to add multiple cable connections. Minimum data field requirements for cable list import include: Cable Tag, Cable Type, Voltage/Routing Level, Equipment From, and Equipment To. Steps to Accomplish Ensure that Equipment.dgn file is open. If not, register the current open .dgn file as equipment from Document Manager. From the Equipment & Cable ribbon tab , select Cable List Import . CableList_Power.xls: XLS file (XLS file contains the cable data that will be imported) IMPORT_CableList_Power.xml: XML file (XML file is an import configuration & column mapping file. In the XLS-Import dialog, set the following file fields using the Browse button. Press OK. The XLS-Import dialog will be populated with same data as below image. Select OK to proceed to next step in the import process. Collaboration Manager opens and a request lock is automatically applied to Voltage/Routing Levels found in the import file. Select OK to proceed to next step. Items available for import will appear in the Review Differences dialog. Select items to import using Select All , then select Accept to set Change column value to Accepted. Select Update to complete the import process. Repeat above process to import any cable list data.
